Side car identification?

Hello out there!

I've just bought my first side car and was wondering if anyone can identify the manufacturer (see picts)

The tail light is marked SAE-DIPST-75 so it is probably a '75 - '77 model but here is no data plate.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much.

The suspension and curved front frame make it an early California Companion. #150 sidecar with torsional suspension.
The look is very similar to the Spirit Eagle or Spirit of America sidecars but the frame suspension and wheel are CSC.

Thanks for the info.

At least it gives me a place to start.

You don't suppose the manufacturer would still have the mounts to mate this thing to a '74 Sportster?

Thanks again.

They've been out of business for more than 30 years. Try www.dauntlessmotors.com or, depending on your location, a local installer who might make some up for you.

California Sidecar Company (CSC) is still in business but has been in Arrington, VA for several years. They moved from Huntington Beach to a less expensive climate.
Their new mounts will still fit in the older chassis but the bike end fittings have been changed from a tiny ball and collet mount to sturdy heim joint and clevis mounts. The upper struts remain the same and are available in chrome or black powdercoat epoxy.
Ph. 1-434-263-8866 for parts.

Sorry, it looked like a Spirit to me. Just the same, the last time I tried to get parts from California for Jennifer's bike they told me they only carry them for current production sidecars. Are they still making the standard Companion?

Mike,
The Companion has been superceded by the Companion GT car.
The later mounting parts still fit the Companion. As far as windshields and the old torsion suspension parts are concerned, they may not still be available except as NOS supplies since the body is different on the GT and they went to coil over shock suspension in 1989.

Thanks for the input guys.

I emailed the California Sidecar company today regarding pricing and availability of parts.

I'll let you know how it goes.
