I am looking for some options to replace the sidecar shock absorber on my Road King/Motorvation Spyder rig. It is a 1997 model Spyder with an air shock; the new ones use a coil over. I was wondering what might be some reasonably priced replacement options.
Thanks
Pete

If your air shocks pump up themselves always to the same level, whether you have heavy load or light one (like the ones Kawa had in the 80tees on their Z650, I'd always go with them again.

I had Koni where beside the spring you were able to adjust the damping rate too. That was the best "conventional" shock I ever tried. 115.000km and still behaveing like new. They weren't cheap, but worth every single DM I paid for them.(345,-West German Mark per pair = 210$ back in 1984)

Regards
Sven Peter

I just bought a 99 motorvation spyder with the leaking air shock. Wondering if you found a good coil shock as a replacement. Please let me know what you found. Thanks

I have a Spyder on a 97 Ultra and use a stock Harley Shock which has stock spring adjustment. It works fine. I only adjust it when I am carrying a very heavy load or very light, otherwise it just lived in the middle. Those shocks are cheap. Find them by the dozens at any Harley swapmeet.
