What kind of bike/sidecar do you have?
I have a BMW Airhead, and found a place which does custom modifications to add reverse gear into the gearbox on the bike.
It works GREAT!!!
You still retain the stock 5 forward gears. There is just a jack-shaft with an actuating lever added to the side of the gearbox which is engaged while the transmission is in neutral to engage reverse.
A VERY worthwhile modification to any sidecar rig... IMHO

OK....you got me curious, having owned several airhead BMW's of various vintages. What model(s) are you talking about? Who does the mod? How much does it cost? ---serioualy curious look---
