Does anyone know if reverse foe a Yamaha Venture is available, and if so, from where? My Ural has totally spoiled me!!! Want reverse on the the new rig also...thanks
The only true reverse gear mods that I know of are the kits that Champion sells for Harley (and Harley Clone) 5 speed transmissions.
Honda uses the starter for their reversing. (Not a true reverse gear).
Some have attached starter ring gears on the sidecar hub/wheel and accuated them with auto starter motors. You'll need an auto battery installed to run these. A similar system was used in the past by Harley but most only worked for a very limited time before failing.
Since getting rid of my RK with reverse, I just use my left foot for reverse. (Unless my monkey volunteers).
I looked at Champion reverse for my Harley, but didn't have the money after getting my sidecar. Now, I don't know if I'd even use it. My mechanic balanced everything so well I can push the rig around with one hand on the flat. Everyone still wants to jump off and help (left over from the pre-sidecar days when I kept my cane velcroed to the saddlebag guard) but I just push off with one foot and let her roll.
