Approx. 10 year old Hannigan sidecar(Astro I think), has no brake.

Would it be a possible to install a brake on the chair?

I couldn't / wouldn't do it, haven't a clue, but would it be an expensive project have done?

To retrofit may cost around $650.00 US in parts for the car itself. The caliper mounting, bike brake tie-in and labor would add to this.

Thanks Lonnie. Good to know.

I also read in the old tech posts that hooking up to ABS brakes is a problem, and if I'm following the comments correctly, it may be better to disable the ABS system when installing sidecar braking.

Does this sound right?

If you are tapping into the bike brake system, yes.
