Hi, I'm looking to replace the sidecar wheel on my R1200C/Ural hack. Does anyone know of a tubules wheel that may work on the Ural sidecar.
Thanks, Sergio

Pick a wheel you like, get an axle that fits it, remove the URAL axle from the swing-arm, drill out or shim the swing-arm as needed, install your axle of choice, install your new wheel ass'y., re-align the sidecar if the wheel radius is a different heigth. Drive away smiling.

I used a front wheel from the BMW R1200C on my Ural sidecar. I need to have a spacer machined so it would fit and not slide back too far. I also mounted a disc brake caliper to fit the BMW wheel. In the attached photo you can see an unused disc on the outside of the sidecar wheel. That way I can exchange the sidecar and front wheel when on a trip and when the front tire gets a little thin.

I did none of the above. I just went to a cycle salvage yard and found an 18 inch wheel I liked.
I then measured the outside diameter of the bearing in that wheel and the inside diameter of the existing Ural bearing. Actually, in my case it was a Dnepr, but it will work with any sidecar. I don't remember the sizes, but let's just say the old wheel was mounted on a 25mm axle and the new wheel needed a 100mm bearing.
I took the measurements to NAPA Auto Parts and asked for two bearings measuring 25mm inside and 100mm outside. I bought a handful of washers with a one inch hole to help me space the wheel properly because it had a rotor instead of a drum. The whole project took about two hours if I count the trip to the junk yard and the trip to the parts house.
Just make sure the wheel you buy doesn't have a wider hub than the existing one, or your axle might end up too short.
You can also change the sidecar height this way. Part of the reason I did this was to drop the sidecar down to better fit the Valkyrie. The Dnepr came with a 19" rim. We also did this to a friends bike so he could use a matching 16 inch Harley wheel.

I wanted a sidecar wheel to also match the bike (V Strom). I purchased a front wheel on E Bay, and Jay at Dauntless sent me a swingarm (not positive this is what its called) already macheined to accept the wheel and the ural master cylinder.greg
