I have to take the sidecar off a '91 FXRT to do the top end of the engine

the car also has electric lean ..

any tips taking it off ... so it will go back on correctly when we finish the engine work?

total rookie here .. the bike was put together by pros so it was a first class install back in '98

it's been sitting for the past 2 years

Procure a moving dolly or some other support (preferably movable) for the sidecar. Harbor freight has really inexpensive moving dollies. Place dolly under the sidecar and after putting the bike's kickstand down, unbolt the sidecar and disconnect electrical (and brake) connections. You're separated.
As long as you do not change the length of any of the sidecar's mounts it will reinstall with the same alignment as it had before dismounting. You may move them about but don't alter the length. Just line the mounts up to their respective positions and bolt things back up.
If brakes are involved be sure to bleed the system before operating the rig.

unbolt the struts but leave the clamps on the bike frame, then it is easy to remove.
