I have a 30yr old Friendship II sidecar from California Sidecar (CSC) that no longer has support by the company as their warehouse burned down. I am looking for a replacement piston (indicated with the arrow) that holds up the front cowling when it is opened. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Thanks

Cannot tell how long it is in the picture, but I have bought a number of gas filled pistons of various lengths from auto parts stores over the years. Bought one from CarQuest for my Hannigan about 2 months ago. Good luck!

There is a bit more to it then does the replacement fit. These are also rated for spring rate as well as dampening effect on closing. For one of our sidecars we worked with an engineer from the company that makes these units, figured the best rate spring and then so that we did not need a custom unit made we looked for the closest one they stocked. In our case it ended up being used by Marathon Coaches for the lifts on the under coach doors.
There should be numbers printed on the body of the unit you can use to cross reference the unit.
