Newest Harley mounts
I am yrying to adapt a 1988 TLE sidecar to the new 2017 police sidecar chassis. This requires a rear mount boss that accepts a stand off (goes between it and the rod end). It has left-handed threads a little larger than 1” in diameter. None of these are available for purchase, so I want to have them made (unless I can find a used set). Does anyone know:
-The left hand thread designation for the large end of the stand off? (Male counterpart for connecting to newer boss.)
-The overall length of the front and rear stand offs? Harley says the front is longer.

Lee, there is a guy in Colorado, one of the main cities along the I-25 corridor, that bought up a HUGE collection of used Police bikes with all their TLE sidecars, and he has been selling them, or advertising them for sale on Craigslist, and possibly on e-bay. Ads have been up for more than a year, and his collection of these bikes and sidecars is about 20+ of each. You may want to do some searching for this guy, look at all ads on CL and e-bay, for what is being sold in Colorado, as he most likely has the item, and information you need.

Thanks, I’ll try him to see if he has parts. Most or all of his sidecars were pre-2002, put on newer bikes. I’ve tried a dozen different parts outlets, and none of them have these. What I really need are the dimensions of the large fitting (like 1-1/8”-20 x 6”; just an example, but close).

If the mount is disassembled, you should be able to take the pieces to a machine shop and they can often do size and thread pitch measurement to determine what the dimensions are.
