new rig
Well, I've had my new rig now for about 3 weeks. I lost count how many times I get pulled over for pictures when riding with my dog wearing his gogles.
My URAL is great, definitely not something to go cross country in it, unless you have plenty of time, but it sure is a lot of fun to ride.
"fun to ride" is the big thing.
Congrats on the new Rig!
FUN is Key! It only gets better!
Enjoy! 🙂
Glad you are enjoying your URAL rig; they're lots of fun and great for tooling around the back roads and taking the dog for a ride -- BUT cross country travel can be done: We have a retired fellow in the Dallas area that, in 2010, has traveled by URAL to California, Canada and the Carolina, among other places. Apparently, them retired fellows don't have to keep as tight of schedule.
You go Charlie:

That's great. Maybe in a few years I'll have the time to do the same thing. In the meantime I'll just keep to the local rides with my wife and dog.
We're heading to Key West from Miami on January 21st. Anybody else in the area wants to join us?
If I get my sidecar in time and mounted , maybe I'll ride over and make that trip to KW for the day............

Hmmm,... This could be just the type of "therapy/recuperation" my knee surgery might require! 😉

It worked for me. Two Weeks after a total knee replacement I was back on the Ural and rode anywhere I needed to go. I couldn't drive the car for a month but the rig was doable. I did put a leg rest on the left crash bar to rest my leg on and used a hand shifter.
Ivan, are they PJ's you're ridin in?
Looks like sweats to me.

Yep Sweats. Just posed for the photo to show off the leg rest. I don't ride like that.

I like hearing that! Thanks Ivan Rider.
Hi...I sure like the rig...I was wondering why you say you wouldn't go cross country with the Ural?, thanks, Brian
TIME!!
the Ural doesn't travel that fast, specially with luggage and passenger. And since I am not retired, I have limited travel time frames.
but if I did have unlimited time, I wouldn't hesitate to take the Ural anywhere.
I have a questions for those with more experience.
My rig seems to pull slightly to the right (hack side). Nothing big, but I need to keep a litle pressure on the handle bars to go straight.
Is this normal? or should I mess around with the links?
