I'm in the process of re-doing my 81 CLE sidecar. The Shield was pretty old and not available anymore and coundn't find any for sale, so decided to make my own.
I used the original for a pattern and traced it to a piece of 1/8" Polycarbonate (Lexan) , actually I think it's .100" thick not a full .125". I sanded the edges and I have chrome edge trim after it gets installed
It still has the protective film on, I'll leave it on untill it's installed
