On a Harley 2002 Ultra rig what is the longest lasting tire I can get on a stock rim. I want something that is good in all weather conditions. What do you think about the E3?
Thanks
Jeff

I use the E3s on the front and the sidecar but use an auto tire on the back of my rig.

Do they make a auto tire for a 5.10 X 16?
Thanks

I use the Dunlop E3 on my '82 Goldwing rig. Get easily 10-12000 miles on the rear, and run 42 psi. Used e2's and now e3's for 25 years on my rigs. Doug

I used Good Year until they quite making motorcycle tires then went to D402 which is what it on my rig right now. I am needing a new rear one and going to try the E3.

On D402 I get about 10K as a solo but have heard the E3 gets 2k to 4k better on a solo so I hope I get 10K on my rig.
Thanks
Jeff

Someone has suggested to me that a Metzeler ME880 is a good option for durability if you stay with a motorcycle tire. I haven't put enough miles on my rig to test any rear tire fully though so no first hand experience with that tire.

ME880 is a great rain tire with the deep tread and soft rubber, but the Dunlop with not so deep a tread is much harder and will last longer.

coker sells a steel radial 500 r 16

now at 9,000 miles give or take, two full summers - still 5/32 of tread all the way across -

to

ps they also sell a non steel non radial - that tire is reported to last a few thousand miles at best - if you want to try it be SURE its the steel radial 500r16

Used to run those non-steel/non-radial cokers on my panhead. A few thousand miles at best is correct !!!

Agree with Lonnie on the ME880. Ran these on a KZ1000P and they wore fast.

I run E3 tires and switched a few of my buddies to them. They all like them.

Just put a E3 on yesterday with out taking the hack off. Someone bought me the E3 so I cannot complain. Being the bike has all most 90K on it I all so replaced the wheel bearings as I had a OEM set and the tool to do it.

FYI I tried a Shinko 205 classic . First it was to large of a sidewall to fit my Velorex so I put it on the back of my Sporty. Installed it in March of 2012 have now gone about 4,000 miles total . The last road trip was 1,350 miles from Eastern Panhandle of WV to The Tail of the Dragon and back. we did ride the dragon twice , 28 and Cherohala Sky way. And here is what it looks like now.
