Trying to find out how much lead is on the harley factory sidecar .
I have the liberty sidecar hooked up to my heritage softail and was
trying to find out what is the difference in their relationship to the Bikes rear wheel.

Thanks

PS Happy New Year

Lenny,
The Softtails have a different frame and wheelbase than the FLHs & FLTs.
The Liberty has a completely different chassis than the Harley cars.

FYI: A 1998 FLHR with factory TLE car has an 8" sidecar wheel lead.

The 1984 FLH was 92.9" total length.
The 1984 Harley sidecar was 78.7" in total length.
The motorcycle and sidecar were even at the rear. The front of the car was 14.2" behind the leading edge of the front motorcycle tire.

The '84 and '98 sidecars are virtually identical in outward appearance.

Any help?

Lonnie

Claude,
The dimensions and relationship between car and bike of the earlier rig were for visual appearance of the outfit only.
No Wheel placement was given.
Sidecar wheel placement on the earlier car: The axle was about an even 17" from the back of the car. With the rear end of both bike and car even, it comes to 7" lead on the '84 sidecar wheel.
