Laced wheel on 93 TLE
Just got done putting a laced wheel on my sidecar. It wasn't easy for sure! The old drum brake used a step axle with 3 steps so when I tried installing a traditional front wheel I was screwed. When I bought the sidecar it had been slightly damaged in a wreck and I was told the axle was bent, so I bought a new one and replaced it. So since I had this old axle I decided to take it into the tool room at work and see if they could help me out. The guys did a great job. They straightened it and turned the entire length down to .75 inch shaft. A few adjustments to the spacer bushings and voila, a laced rim! Of course this only works because I'm not running the drum brake, but I am thinking of making a adapter plate and going to a disc brake...I have lots of room to play with.
wish my rig looked as good ! I've got 3 different wheels on mine. good job. Ed
