how much trail ????
Topic starter
I'd like to install a leading link fork on my '81 moto guzzi convert with a hack. What is the generally accepted amount of trail to have ? I understand less will reduce steering effort but I don't want to go so far as to promote head shake. Any help is appreciated. Thx, Dave.

It depends on where you live and how you ride the bike. If you live in an area where you are doing a lot of straight highway travel with little turns you will want more trail then if you live where there are lots of twisty roads. As a rule, 2 inches of trail is a good compromise. I have gone on my own bikes to as little as 1.2 inches, other bikes we have gone as much as 2.5 inches.
