Honda V45 Magna make a good tug?
I'm thinking of going to something in the 750cc range for my Dneper. I see a lot of Magnas around for not a lot of money. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
We just finished a Magna rig that the owner has yet to pick up. We mounted a Kenna sidecar. It seems to work out well. We did not tool for the mounts as this is the only one we have had a request for.

The Magna appeals to me just now because it has a frame under the motor. I'm in the process of welding up the broken crankcase that the subframe was mounted to. I didn't see the big rock hiding in the grass. No frame, no skid plate. Bike otherwise ok, I just left all my oil on the road. Short walk to use cell phone, & recovered rig before dark.
We've set up several Magna V45's and V65's.
They've got a lot of things about them that make good tugs.
Lots of horsepower, good anti dive front ends, shaft drive, hydraulic clutches, triple brakes, radiators, price and parts availability.
One drawback is the excessive trail. The stock front ends don't do well without a damper installed to eliminate wobble and that slows down the steering excessively and works the shoulders more than desired.
The other main drawback all Honda's suffer from. Weak rear shocks, but that is easily remedied with some sidecar shocks from Progressive or Koni perhaps.
Either 45's or 65's will handle light or heavy sidecars well.

Both will handle

I thought Koni was long out of business? Need to add new/additional shocks to my BMW Montauk. Any thoughts?

Never have used Koni's myself, their prices were always too dear. If they have fallen by the wayside, no big thing here.

I have a V65 Sabre coming to mount a hack to real soon. Looking forward to giving it a shot never done one before.
