Along the same line of reasoning, if some is good, more is better and too much is just right.

As I'm fond of saying, Better a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy. Ahem. In my case, though, it's going to be either straight water or some diet soda from here on in.

Actually, I quit drinking beer about three months ago so that I could lose some of my portentious bulk. So far, so good. I'm down about 33 pounds in the last 90 days. It makes it easier to get onto my rig, too.

In order to lose weight, rather than going on a diet, one needs to change one's diet and let it go at that. Oh yeah, no more chocolate or ice cream, either. That's out the window!

To get back on topic, I really like the work that Wing Nut is doing on his sidecar. It's simply amazing and it's been fun watching it take shape. I love to fabricate and work with metal so I get into the spirit of what he's doing.

Sidecars, more than other forms of motorcycling lend themselves uniquely to metal fabrication and this thread is a wonderful example of what I mean.

I can hardly wait for the next installment! (We need some emoticons on this site....)

I've been out of town for a couple of days. But I'm back now:o) I am going to powder coat a few pieces tomorrow. I have some white pearl and maybe some mirror black to do? I'll see how far I get. The rims will be white to match the bike.

I had a little trouble with the paint and that is being sorted out now. I'll give more details later.

Wes

Well,,,If moderation was moderated it woulden't be moderation anymore,,it would be over moderation which would reduce it to so little moderation that it could be considered eliminated in which case you could just go ahead and do what ever to excess untill it became over excessive and then moderate the over excessiveness to a moderate leavel but not to the point that it became over moderated in which case one would have to start all
over again.

Well, that would be appropriate if done carefully, with sensitivity and, of course, with moderation.

By the way, there's no such thing as "over-moderation". I would call it being perhaps "under-zealous".

I'm glad to see that I've provided you with some amusement however fleeting and.......and.......moderate.

I finished up the metal work on the lugguge rack today. There are a couple chain links welded to the sides for bungees and I had to drill and tap the holes for the wood part to bolt to. I also decided to add some 1/4" rods to space the wood off the metal. This will let things dry out I think? if they get wet.

Here's a quick tour of my Powder coating Department. If it will fit I can coat it:o)

The rack.

Here it is with powder applied.

And here it is hanging to cool. I did 2 black pieces today and I'm trying to get a white piece ready to go.

I'll post some more later:o)

Aren't you worried about the 1/4" rods chaffing the wood?

I like your powder coat oven and all the storage it provides.

What kind of metal lathe is that behind your tool box?

Why do you have a pistol hanging on you peg board?

I'm using Oak and it's pretty hard. I don't think it will get damaged too bad? The lathe is a 1935 LeBlond. It is a 13" X 60" model. The BB gun is for shooting stuff. You cant see the cross bow in the picture. The tripod next to the oven holds a black powder, golfball sized bore, cannon on it. It's about done. Wanna see? :o)

We have a lot more in common than just sidecars. Yes I would love to see your cannon. Here is a black powder golf ball mortar that I made teaching myself how to use a lathe. Good fun making and shooting.

It's raining now, But here are six that I finished a bout three weeks ago. I'll try and get some finished photos of them. Here they need the trunnions installed. They are 4" stainless and Bronze barrels 26" long.

Photobucket

I traded a colt Python for this one. It shoots golf balls.

Photobucket

This one is fun to shoot. It will lob a Bowling ball a bit over a mile:o)

I'd heard rumors about launching bowling balls over the Snake River Canyon. You must be the one. Your turnings are beautiful. You definitely have too much time on your hands.
