Chris,
The Virago's lack a full perimeter frame. Bikes without a conventional perimeter frame with downtubes are hard to convert to sidecar usage without fabricating a sub-frame to attach the sidecar lower mounts and struts.
Some Cozy sidecars are designed for scooters and do not use a 4 point mounting system. Instead they use a mounting plate that connects to the scooter floor pan.
The Cozy's designed cycle mounting use a four point system and can use the Velorex mounting system if none is present with the sidecar.

I would suggest starting with a bike with a full perimeter frame unless you have metal fabricating experience and the tools to make your own sub-frame bracketry, or a willing fabricator to help you.

A 250 Honda Rebel comes to mind for a good platform of the same cc displacement.

Which motorcycle, sidecar or wife to choose is a matter of personal taste. What will serve the purpose, what appeals to you and what you can afford apply here.
I can't help you much here. I might choose a redhead and you may prefer a blonde.

Hay Friend One last question, If you were conserdering buy something anyway and thing of power an longivity, would you try to find something bigger, I weigh 160 and my dog weighs 180lb,s would I be better off bigger than the 250 rebel or will this cause more problems. I have a 250 verigo 03 5k miles to trade or sale.

hi, C,
a bike of 500 or 650CC would be a better choice for the Cozy, with you on the bike and the big dog aboard the SC.
find one with a full frame, but subframes are still reccomended for almost all bikes.. BMW /5 /6 come to mind..also honda 500 CX.

You can probably get a good trade on some middle weight bikes. A Honda Shadow, Yamaha V-Star, Kawasaki Vulcan, Suzuki Savage all make good sidecar tugs and all have full frames and will accept a sidehack well.
Being modern cruisers they also have adequate brakes, easy parts availability, many available accessories and there are lots of low mileage models available.

Mr lonnie you hit on a note, I have a very nice V star 650 03 model. 1,200 miles or less
I did not wont to, cause I thought I had to drill holes or some thing and mess up my V Star. I still not shure how to mount on the right side an get past the mufflers. So That why I went in the direction of the hellix 250cc scooter and ran up on a deal on the verigo. If I could mount easley on and off on my 650 Ill just get rid if the virigo. What do you think? most I ve seen in pictures are mounted on the right side. When I started looking monts a go to guys from Side Car talk said that motorcycle where not as stable as side cars ( I guess the frame) and could damage my bike.

you would do good to get a subframe for the bike. this is a separate heavy frame bolted to the right side of the bike to mount the SC to. it reinforces the frame. It is reccommended for most bikes except Gold wings and Harleys. could be a few others.
it attaches to the front downtubes, lower engine mounts, goes back to pass peg area and bolts there, then goes up to seat area....strong.

Here's an '02 650 V-Star/Velorex 562 combo. The Cozy mounts the same way and Velorex mounts fit on a Cozy. Nothing too complex here.
