Harley front mount
Hi all I have an 05 ultra and I am mounting an 01 TLE sidecar, itappears the lower front mount angles forward , is this correct? and the two pcs clamp style fits above it,
Do I have to remove the oild filter to get the lower one on? ant help would be great
Thanks Bo
well.. removing the oil filter helps with clearnance & yes it tilts forward and down.
you DO have to remove the brake rez and put in the sidecar brake rez - or you can figure this out the hard way..
the threaded rod between the two halves needs to be just snug - dont reef it tight.
the nut in the center of the threaded rod must clear the voltage reg by 1/16" to 3/32" or you will have BIG problems, if its lower the voltage regulator will bite it and need replacing, if its higher you wont be able to get the oil filter to clear to put it back in.
the best plan?
get a 05 sidecar service manual - and follow it to the T its 56 bux that will save you untold hours of frustration, broken parts, and risk.

Hi, that sounds correct, it does slant generally forward. I had an issue getting my lower front mount in place but I finally resolved it by removing the oil filter and adapter. By the way, if you remove the oil filter adapter to install the lower front mount, be extremely careful. The bolts appear to be very tight and could possibly break.....
As pointed out by Timo482, the rear brake lever, master cylinder reservoir and master cylinder must be changed in order to clear the lower front mount.
See the attached picture for a general view....sorry about the quality...the picture was rather dark initially.
By all means get the sidecar manual.
Good luck.
