I have a 1994 "sorta new to me " gl1500 with a CSC and the rake kit fromCSC and they installed there longer fork tubes. So I don't know what the oil capacity should be. The rake increase was 6 degrees and the tubes they used were whatever came with the rake kit.

Fork oil can be measured from the top of the tube to the top of oil level with the spring out and fork fully compressed. With this method i believe it shouldn't matter if longer tubes were used.

Hi Sal. Thanks for geting back to me. Yes sir I do what you are saying. What I am looking for is the correct amount of oil in cc's or ounces so I do not have to dis-assemble the whole front end just to change the fork oil as I change it every other eng. oil change.

Hi Sal. Thank you for taking the time to look this up. My problem is that a raked front end has been installed because of the side car and CSC installed there longer fork tubes and I do not know how much longer the tubes are or how much more oil they need.
Bone, you will need to go back to CSC and get them to give you the correct amount needed. anytime you change the forks or even just put progressive springs in it changes the amount of oil needed. the amount needed will be determined by the manufactures design change to the original set up
The spacers do not change the amount of fork oil needed. They go on top of the fork tubes and as such change nothing.

so the next question should be is it the original springs in the forks or a progressive or other replacement.

Ok. Here is what I have. Along with the rig I bought it included the stock length gl1500 fork tubes in a box And the longer tubes from CSC are installed on the bike. I just went out to the garage and checked the box that the stock tubes are in. There is nothing in the box except the stock gl1500 tubes. No springs and no other fork tube innards. So it would appear that only the tubes have been replaced with the longer tubes which means they used all the stock gl1500 pieces and have some kind of spacer on top of the springs to make up for the added length of the tubes. So in that case the stock oil level would remain the same. Yes ??
