(Sorry to be a bother again, but mentally trying to work through all of the variables.)

Is there any reason why a (properly designed and installed) fork brace would be a bad idea on a rig?

Overkill on a modern telefork suspension?

Couldn't hurt, XVS1100 has larger fork tubes already and the steel front fender on the Classic and Silverado will tie 'em together pretty well.

Not so with the smaller Custom (plastic?) front fender. I used a Telefix fork brace on my XS650/Velorex outfit never had any trouble with fork

flex and I never spared the horse team on that one even with smaller 35mm tubes.

A good fork brace is a welcome addition to any tube front end that can be fitted with one. Solo bikes, trikes, or sidehack rigs.
