Exhaust for Harley Rig
Before I mounted the sidecar on my e-glide it had a 2into1 exhaust system. It seemed to be somewhat cooler than the stock system. The sidecar would not mount with this exhaust ,so I reinstalled the stock system. Man is this thing hot. Does anyone know of a 2into1 exhaust that will fit a Harley Rig?

I feel your pain. I'm not aware of a 2-1 exhaust that will clear the rear mount. I've been told that the so-called "true dual" systems run somewhat cooler, at least on your right leg since there is no down tube from the rear cylinder.
Let me know if you find one.
I had a Rinehart 2into1 setup on my Ultra and despite everything we tried it wouldn't work. Ended up installing a V&H true dual system with Rush mufflers and am very happy with it. Only thing I would change is I got the slash cut mufflers and had it to do again would put on the street sweeper mufflers.

Another option, use a header wrap on the stock pipes. It'll cool the pipes, and give you a few more HP. The chrome heat shields will still fit too.
I can't believe it. I just ordered a V&H 2 into 1 ProPipe for my Ultra Classic yesterday. Now today I begin to wonder if it will interfere with the mount for the hack. I figured I'd log on to this forum and sure enough there is a thread on this very topic, right up at the top of the page.
I guess I'll have to add a couple more tasks to the list when switching back and forth. Change the mount, change the pipes, change back to the old map on the SERT. GEEEZ!

It will definitely interfere with the lower rear mount. No way around this.
Are you saying that you will be removing the sidecar periodically? That's a lot of work.
I don't know what year your bike or sidecar is but for the later bikes (2003 and up) there is a cable (P/N 88115-03) that will change the bank angle sensor so that it becomes a roll over switch. This has to be programmed in by the dealer using the "Digital Tecnician".
You can get by without this, but there is a chance that your engine could cut off on a hard turn.
i spent a bunch of time on latus web site going over dyno charts.
all the true duals and 2 into 1's boost horsepower at high rpm's but significantly reduce tourqe in the 2k to 3.5k range. the MOST useable power is with a stock set of head pipes and se 4" mufflers or v&h slip ons.
its depressing but true fact - the larger volume of the stock head pipes provides more useable power in the 2k to 3.5k rpm than any of the big bux systems out there.
check it out for yourself. "looks cool" does not equate to "more power"

Yep, you've got a problem with the lower mount, ain't go'na work. I'll add another item to your list of changes to be made with you remove the sidecar: the rear tire.
I've found that riding with a sidecar runs the rear tire flat in the center because you don't lean into turns. Found this out this past July when I took the sidecar off for our annual AARP ride to Key West. Rode rather strange into turns and when passing traffic. I ended up buying a complete rear wheel, sprocket, rotor and tire. I have another bike (FXDL) that I ride around town, on short trips and/or when the GF doesn't want to ride. Now when I pull the sidecar off for those 5000 mile trips I drop the rear wheel assembly also.

Yes, I do want to switch back and forth. I am realizing this will likely be a long time in between switches though. I've had it off a couple of times. When I first did it the dealer only charged an hour or two of labor and no parts(they did the bank angle sensor too of course).
Now I'm gonna pay big time. At the same time as adding the VH Propipe I'm having a TW6HG cam installed for better midrange power. The SE260 I was using was designed for high RPM. Also going to the 3.37:1 primary set up.
When I have the hack put on I'll have to switch back to the stock header and SE slip ons(since I already own them). Also need to have it dyno tuned again, get the bank angle sensor switched, change the rear passenger floorboard mount, bleed rear brake, stereo/tail light wiring connected & something else I'm sure. Oh, the joys of "having it all".

What rear tire do you use with the side car attached? When DeeDee and I went to Sturgis in '06 we started with new tires all around. Got about 4,500 miles into the trip and had to replace the rear again. The dealer only stocked regular tires, nothing designed for a hack. I remember the old tires that looked like a car tire but have not seen them on a long time other than on an occasional knuckle head era restoration.

Hi, Why are you changing the rear passenger floorboard mount?
I could install any cam I want and do other things to add horsepower to my stock bike. I choose not to because I like the torque profile given by the stock cam.
Almost without exception, a modified cam will raise the bottom point of torque to a higher level....that is to the point where your new cam "comes in". Thats fine for a solo bike but I don't care for it. To each his own on that issue.
In any case, if you are going to change the cam I would suggest a port job and "cc"ing the chambers to equalize them. It will certaily help a cam operate.
My 2 cents.
Thanks for the thoughts. I guess I don't know for certain but I surmized that the Sidecar mount would interfere with the VH Propipe so planning on putting the stock one back on. My hack is sitting in the garage for now, not attached to the bike.
Heads, you betcha, they are in for a bit of cleaning up. They are already SE 103+ heads, but why not add a little fun while we are there right?
The stock cam may be ok for most, I want to play. The torque band will begin higher sure, but much lower than the SE 260 cam that is in there right now. Plus by going to the 3.37 I will get the Rs closer to the torque band.
For me I suppose motorcycles are natures way of telling my I have too much money.

No problem. I understand the need to go fast. My son has a 2003 FXDWG. He wants do do something so he can go really fast. He's selling the Harley and he'll get a 2008 Kawasaki Concourse 14. That should take care of things. 139 rear wheel hp/92 ft-lbs torque and 160 mph. Amazing.
I had Bassani true duals on my Road King (2002, fi, power commander, 95").
I thought it lost power fron the stock exhausts w/ SE mufflers. A couple months ago i put the new SE Harley mufflers (the 4" diameter ones, which are 50 state legal) on it. Obviously very quiet, but what surprised is there was no loss in power whatsoever. I think these motors need back pressure.
Oh MAN I have a buddy who just got a Concours 14. Way cool bike!
