Effect of a Smaller Hack Tire

I have a trailer tire on my Auburn doublewide sidecar. It's a 13 x 5.5 inch with a 4-on-4 hub. What would be the effect of replacing that tire with a 12 X 4.5 tire? Certainly I would need to realign the hack. Would there be less drag? Less rolling resistance? Better fuel mileage? Admiration from the men and adoring looks from the women?

The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of pulling a trailer which already has 12 X 4.5 tires with 4-on-4 hubs. My thought is if the hack's tire matched the trailer's tires, I could carry a single spare and cover all three in case of a flat. Should that flat occur on the hack, I wouldn't have to realign at the side of the road if I had to swap to a smaller tire.

some of the Limey doublewides use 10"wheels so there shouldn't be any problem with the 12" wheel. No big difference in mileage or drag to be expected but you will sure wow the ladies.

It would in theory make a difference. I practice I doubt you would know the difference. Are you running a brake on the sidecar? With the extra weight of the trailer you may find especialy in the rain that you have to chose to use your front tire for either steering or braking as there is not enough tracsion to do both. We do have a hub set up for adding a disk brake to a 1 inch axle with a 4 on 4 pattern.
