E-Z steer? Leverite?... Thoughts???
Sorry that I cannot find the previous thread about this... and also having now to condredict myself... as I previously wrote "I enjoy the hard steering... even though my GS has wide handlebars... I feel like I am develloping my upper body and the hell woth Gold's Gym!!!..."
Well... after a few runs up the Mountain to Two Wheels Only on 60... 180... 129... because on my 15 weeks visit in Arizona taking a bad fall and having rotator cuff surgery scheduled for this past January 3rd and cancelling it... my shoulder is now again feeling the pain... I strongly feel the need to ease that front steering... I have read about one system??? that can be bolted on in about 30mn's... and lost the thread... again...
Anyone remembers what it was??? Whatever I add has to be something that I can do myself... not a mechanic Guru here by no means but adequate at the same time... I even remember posting... "in 30mns???... sure...".
I appreciate the feedback... as usual this Forum is a life saver!!!...
Be well...

Ara,
129 is a toughy as you know. I bet you are running the rig a little harder now. I sent you an email.
Claude, who's last trip on deals gap (129) was in a pickup truck with the power steering broke 🙂

another option to consider is a leading link or a single swingarm leading
link ... these are commonly used in europe.....
here is a site to look at ... more money but probably ewell worht the investment....

WOW... that is some construction on that website... something actually that I will address soon... as Jay's (Dauntless Motors) lower mounts look fine but upper arm mounts to the cycle look very weak... as in 4 little bolts (6mm / regular grade) for the upper rear and ONE bolt only for the front upper arm... and NO U joint attachement o either ends of both arms!... since the lower mounts have a pivoting head... I know now that the arms take a lot of stress and this will need to be addressed soon... they will not hold up specially for a rig designed and sold as a "Dual Sport"...
BUT... just for curiosity... not that I will do it... as I would lean much more to ride up to Claude's house and let him do his magic... and visit... I am still looking for that 30minute bolt on for the front fork!
I had questionned I remember the time it took to mount it... as I never had anything I could do in 30mn's...
Anyone remembers???

Been out on the road (camper not hack)for the last month so this post is a little late. I installed a Leverite on my GS/Ural and I even believe I stated "30 minutes" in a thread sometime back. However, to keep it real, I'd like to jump the time up to 45 or 50 minutes. I had no problem with any bolts or fasteners and did use an air ratchet to run the longish bolts out and back in. The Leverite reduces steering effort by more than half. The tightest corner is a one hander now. I'm off to the Madison BMW Club's rally at Soldier Grove WI this weekend and the hack gathering in La Cygne Kansas 1st weekend in June; Hope to see ya there or at the National in Arkansas...Danny
Here are two sites to look at:

Thanks for the reply... not too late abd glad to see that we have the same rig which lets me know that Leverite has at least done one conversion... even thought even after sending them some pictures I have not heard from them... I will forward this thread to Peter there and maybe they will get a desire to sell me a unit!!!...
Anxious to try it...
With only three days off a week (mon/tue/wed) it does not give me much of a chance to attend events too far... actually none at all... but all might change soon...
You be well and thanks again for your personal experience...
