Hello,

I am an owner of HD Duo Glide 1962 and I have decided to attach an original sidecar with tin gondola onto it. I have been trying to find instructions, manuals and other information how to proceed, but I have only found instructions for older models with rigid frames. Could anyone help with any information (pictures, mauals, or any detailed information) how to attach the sidecar to my Duo Glide?
- How to connect sidecar to the swing arm frame?
- What kind of frame is needed for sidecar? (is it the same frame that is used for rigid motorcycle frame?)
- Is it necessary to in any way adjust tripple tree?

Thank you very much for and information!

I don't have any other info than that Harley had adjustable triple trees available to reduce the trail for decent handling.
They used them up until the Evolution models and they can be found on eBay.

By "tim gondola" you must mean the metal body that was used up to around the early 60's. I think by the mid-60's HD had changed to the fiberglass body. You could get started by looking on eBay and buying an installation model for your year bike. That will show you the correct parts. They are on eBay all of the time.

The early swingarm bikes had the rear mount that connected to the right siwingarm. It was the same frame as used on the rigid frame bikes. They continued for a few years untiil later in the Shovelhead era when the shortened the fame a bit so that the rear mount could attach to the right passenger footpeg pad. At abou thte same time, they started calling the model the TLE. The upper and lower front mounts should fit your bike..

So, in general, you need a sidecar that is very close in year for your bike, assuming that you want a stock one. If you go aftermarket, then I'm sure you can get one to fit.

The Duo-Glide could use the upper and lower adjustable triple tree kit that came out in 1949 with the first Hydra-Glide bike for sidecar use. That enabled the owner to reduce the trail by loosening three bolts and moving the forks. They are sometimes found for sale.

Good luck.
