continuing discussion of my 94 gl1500 and CS hack

there were some discussions here about removing the sidecar for single rider/2 up excursions on the goldwing...

it was mentioned that if i have increased trail that i would probably NOT like the bike without the car. i was directed to measure the front wheel from the front of the bike but not knowing exactly where to reference the measuring, i just took some pictures. it certainly doesnt look like ive got any additional trail modded on my bike. the wheel and bike are pretty darn close together...

I'm sure your trees setup is original. I just had mine ('98 GL SE) changed and while the setup originally looked like your photo it now definitely shows about a 3" gap, at least. Incidently my new tree, as are others I've seen, is stainless, while the OEM part is dark steel-colored. Mike

so i should be able to pull the hack off and ride the bike on its own without too much trouble?

id have to look into disconnecting the brake line and the electrical of course...
