Cargo/Helmet Box
I am looking for a large, lockable cargo box that I can mount on the back of my Dauntless sidecar. I'm mainly interested in being able to quickly and securely stash helmets and jackets when on the road.
I have looked a little at ATV boxes, and they might be a solution. But really I'd like something more like a classic trunk in shape -- maybe 20" by 14" by 12". Plastic would be okay, but I'd want either lockable latches or a hasp for a padlock. It does need to be weathertight.
Maybe some kind of pleasure boat accessory?
Any ideas?

Look on Ebay . There are a lot of 'Dealers' on there selling what you want .
Lance
AI Hardbags.com in San Jose, CA has a bunch of them in different shapes and sizes.

what about these m/c trunks?
Not sure you like the shape but large one got dimensions similar to what you want.
How about a trailer tongue box?
I've found several potential solutions.
The cheapest, but the one that will require the most adaptation, is available from www.grainger.com, in the Vestil line of storage cases. The Vestil cases range in price from US$93.20 up to $369.00, with different volumes and features. Their Grainger stock numbers are:
3ZLH2 $93.20
3ZLH3 $122.10
3ZLH4 $165.50
6MRK3 $330.75
6MRK4 $369.00
I have my concerns about the weather-tightness and durability of the Vestil cases. But I haven't seen any of them, so I can't judge right now.
There are also purpose-built top boxes available from www.micatech.com and www.happy-trail.com. Again, a range of sizes and a range of prices. Big dollars there, but some rather elegant solutions and worthwhile features. And I have much more confidence these boxes are entirely suitable for the job.
