I'm getting close to new rear tire time and since I've put the
Velorex sidecar on my Honda VTX1300s, a car tire would be highly
desirable replacement.

Has anyone done this with a Honda VTX1300s, 170/80-15 rear tire
and if so, what size and manufacturer did you go with?

If no one has done this, where can I get a cross reference or a
method of selecting the right fit?

Thanks for any constructive comments.

I run a BFG 150/60 /15 on my o2 marauder with a 150/60/13 on my cali1 car,..I found the size through the internet, then went to a local car tire dealer who didn't know the size was even available until he called his suppliers, I had to remove the bearings before he could install the tire, however 10 000 miles and both tires look like new,$69.00 & $39.00,.. Perelli also fabs a narrow tire,...the second # is the height of the tire, you can play with that a little,..lower # means less sidewall flex. good luck, crawf.

Hi Concho,As you know I have the 1300R, and originally had a black Cooper tire, now I have a customized whitewall car tire. Check this sight, it is a nice looking tire, a buddy has it also on his LC1500 two wheel and loves it.

it has a really nice profile.

Thanks for the info, crawf and ol'broad. I found some info after an
exhausting search which highly recommends a 165/80-15 car tire for
a replacement. It seems to be the closest in dimensions to the stock
170/80-15 M/C tire. The width seems to be the critical factor as there
is little room to grow, it appears. Changing sidewall height would also
effect speedometer error more than it is already. I'll probably go with
a "Khumo powerstar 758 165/80-15" which someone reported as currently
running with satisfactory results and you can't beat the price.

Incedently, there is a very good tire calculator at the following URL

your quite welcome,...I'm glad you were successful in locating a size for your rig,...don't be afraid to play with your air preasure, plus or minus a few pounds for your handling( some run as low as 8psi and up to 45psi) and know that the bike will handle a little differently with a flat bottom on the tire, especially when the car is off,...happy trails, crawf.

The rig is much lighter then a car so ther shouldn't be as much effect with cheap chineese tires. Allthough I am tired of chineese tires,(changed back to tcheck bike tires on my Jawa rig) but got a positive surprise on 2 different cars in my shop that run now on Maxxis. Handling and road stability improoved very much. Seems a good brand to ask.
