Can you add a sidecar to a bike with a kick starter?

Pardon me if this comes across as a newbie question. I have a 77 Triumph Bonneville that I plan to connect a 98 velorex to. Looks like it will work but I am concerned about the kick starter being able to move through a full cycle to kick. Anything I should consider or look out for?

Are there pre-made adapter kits for this year/model of bike or will I need to fabricate the whole mounting system?

Hmmm, guess you could mount the hack on the left and pretend you're from England. I know the kick starters on my '78 Yamaha and '96 Suzuki wouldn't work with sidecars mounted.

I had an XS850 that was not the world's most dependable bike. Every once in a while, the electrical system would go dead, all lights would go out and the motor would die. The starter would die as well, but if you kick started it, it would start on the first or second kick and everything would come back to life.
While diagnosing it, I put a clevis pin in the top rear mount so I could pull the pin, swing the bar out of my way, and kick the bike. It worked great. In fact, after the electrics were repaired, I left it that way.

I am not interested in mounting it on the left side.

I want something permanent. The idea of the pin is clever but what if you stall the bike in an intersection. Its one extra step to get the bike started.

Anyone else run into the same kick start issue?

I'm sorry! I was just teasing about mounting on the left. Gotta take my tongue out of my cheek.

No doubt that a mounting system for the sidecar could be fabricated to accomodate the use of a kick starter.

As long as you have time and money, anything is possible.

However, I am looking for someone who has actually done this before.

I've mounted Velorex's and URAL cars on kick only Harleys. Sportys and big twins.
Plenty of space to kick with the URAL cars.
With the Velorex's I had to mount at least 12" frame to frame to keep my ankle away from the rear sliding clamp at the bottom of the kick.

Foot slipped off the kick pedal once in the mud during the Bonehead Enduro and the clamp took a notch out of my ankle bone that took a while to heal up.

It wasn't a big deal. You just pull the pin, kick it, and put the pin back in. I left the bottom bolt just loose enough to allow the adjusting bar to swing out of the way and cinched it with a nylock nut so it couldn't vibrate off.
