Building Articulating Rig...for a BMW RS1100R
Hey guys-my Rig (Proof of concept) is done and info is posted here:
http://www.nowandthen.info/Sidecar%20website/
It loads slow now cause pics need resized, I'll get to that later
Very interesting stuff! Looking forward to reading more about your process.
Have you googled the Flexit Sidecar? The are (were) made in CA. very impressive mechanics.
KC
Yea, Flexit are real impressive and look very heavy, chains, gears...looks like landing gear from a fighter plane.
I wanted something inherently simple and light. I can detach my rig in 5 minutes and lift it into the bed of my truck using a ramp for the wheel, by myself.
It handles Great! and is stable from 0 to 75mph at extended lengths of time.
I'll be posting all the mods after winter.
Seems as tyhough there could be a market for it here in the states..too bad I dont have the time or I'd do a startup.
Excellent write up Al. Give me a call sometime at 570 765 8310. I am in Central Pa.
That's totally amazing Al. If I was half as smart as you when it comes to fabrication, I'd be smarter than I am now... Good luck with the winter time improvements.
