I have a R1100RT....and was thinking.... if I swapped the lower ball joint of the front end...with a ball joint from a R1200C (cruiser) that it would move the lower ball joint forward and increase the angle of the forks......kinda like a "home made" Stearight.... I was looking at the ball joint on a cruiser and it looks to have the same bolt pattern....the front of the casting and the back would need to be trimmed some....but it sure looks like it would work.......

Anyone ever try this ?? Did it help the steering ? Is it a good idea ??

Thanks

Joel

I think I might have found an even easier swap...... it looks like the R1100GS lower ball joint is much further back than the R1100RT...but both look identical otherwise...It almost looks like you could use the GS ball joint and that would move the forks forward quite far...looks like a simple swap....anyone tried this ??

I also have an R1100RT with sidecar. It came with a steering conversion when I bought it used. I will attach a picture, but it looks like all it requires is fabricating a couple of extensions to move the lower mounting point forward at the ball joint mount. I think the previous owner also replaced the shock as well. I do not know what conversion this is, but I think Hannigan did the rigging of this rig. It handles great.

Wow...my bike looks like yours...same color...I have a Armec Tramola 1 on mine...

I wrote to that Danish company that makes the adaptors to move the ball joint back.... looks just like the one on your rig....perfect...
it looks like the ball joint is further back on yours than just swaping out the mount with a R1100GS mount....

Thanks

The Danish company wanted 150 euros for that conversion kit..... heck what a deal... it moves the ball joint position and looks just like yours....they said it will take a couple weeks as they were making up a new batch...
