My s/c is a Velorex 560 and the bike is a Moto Guzzi Eldorado.
The tires on the bike are new Metzlers. The s/c tire is a 2.25 x 18 and the wheel is rusted. Since the hub is good, I was thinking of getting another rim laced on to it. Would it be better to get a wider rim and tire?

the wider the tire , the more resistance to the rt side of the bike,...however with that being said,...my hack has a 155/60/13 car tire that is no trouble at all,..and my bike has a 155/60/15 car tire to balance the pull,..if you have to replace anyway,...set up what you want, for tire replacement size or personal liking, just remember the pull load may increase a little on the right side, needing a little more effort on the left bar,..but probably not enough to bother you, good luck crawf

The later Velorex 16" wheel for the 15mm axles utilize a 3.50x16" tire and tube.
These are available (some as takeoffs from 562's) and will fit the 560 sidecar. The 4ply Mitas tire used with this wheel is also a high mileage sidecar tire.

Lonnie,
Not sure if you're suggesting I put a 16" wheel on my 560?
I'd like to stick with the 18" which is what my Eldorado has.
I was going to call Buchanan today about relacing etc.

Howard,
That was the suggestion for a wider tire. Better lateral wheel strength is available with the 16" also.
With putting a wider 18" rim and tire on the rig you are only limited by fender clearance (for running and if you wish to change out without removing the fender) and $$$$$$$$$$
The Guzzi Eldorado has 18" wheels all around? Didn't know that.
