Hello everyone -
I am the proud owner (though not yet received), of a 1994 HD TLE sidecar. It will be going on my 2002 FLSTS Springer. I want to replace the cast star wheel with a 40 spoke wire wheel to match the bike but I dont know the size or spindle diameter to ensure I am looking for the right one. I have found a 2003 wheel/tire combo off of a Road King and the price is right - BUT WILL IT FIT? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am very excited to have found this site (alot of hours of reading ahead...)
Thanks again for any direction you can give a newbie. Trent

Spoked wheel is hard to adapt if you want to keep the drum brake on it..

Is that because of the thickness of the drum? I have checked out most other wheels off of Softails, Road Kings etc. and the measurments all seem to be off (and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the different measurements). My dealer doesnt have a PARTS book for my '94 TLE and my SERVICE MANUAL does not include any parts numbers. I would like to know if they even offered the wire wheel on the touring bikes in '94 and if so do I want the rear or front wheel? Thanks for any help.

on the disk brake tle's its a softail wide glide single brake front wheel - with the small bearings

for a drum brake wheel - you will have to take it apart and measure

anything can be made for a price

in my case i just change the wheels on the bike to match the sidecar - it was the cheaper route.....

the other and important issue is that hd tle sidecars were not designed to mount to a softail

you are going to have to do some custom machined mounts

and you will have to do custom wiring and custom brake work

however i have seen it done and it worked just fine

one advantage is that you can get panhead adjustable tree for the front end and it will work properly

or have liberty machine your springer - they have a fixed price service to do the work.

Thanks for the info. I have already machined and welded the brackets on and have about 200 mi. on the setup. Still have a little tweaking to do but I am very happy with how it handles and how the sidecar travels - just looking to get it to match the Springer better before I paint it. Thanks again.
