92 GL1500 Front springs?
Hi;RE;the front springs in this bike.Just bought it so new to it,rides like a lumber wagon!Just checking and practically no movement when moving it forward and hit brakes??Feels that way when ridden too!Talked to steerite! He suggested that the springs on these weren't really up to S/C work and should be replaced with progressive set such as they sell? Was thinking of new triple tree but could live with the steering Don't have a shop ,manual not sure how hard to change springs think better at least order one of Clymers, better than nothing!
Too much resistance in the front forks?
That isn't normal for this bike. If the springs haven't been changed out or spacers added it sounds like too much fork oil or too much air pressure.
Lonnie
Lonnie,Thanks for the reply.Seen your very knowledgeable replies before here!OK FItst in the ma nual I see nothing about any front fork air pressure??Of course the manual also says nothing about oil in the front fork?As I said think I better find a shop manual!Looking on E bay see somne clymers but better than nothing! The fork appears to and feels as has no movement!SO if I grab the fairing from below and lift up comes up about 4" let go and it drops back down?Yes my Ultra Classic HD had seperate air supply to front forks see nothing like that on this one.Have owned lot of bikes but no experience with the wing! Thanks!!

Sure your diving tubes aren't bent from an accident ?!!!!!
A lot of mud closing the valve openings? There are people who never clean the valve system in the bottom of their diving tubes and if it settled for quite a time the whole system becomes useless (metal smear hardens out and closes everything).
way too thick oil? normal SAE 5 to max 25, typical solo 10-15, s/c 15-20
Broken springs? Then You are allready at the botom!
Or another absurd thing: I had once a guy who loved to play. In one tube he changed the sequence of the valve plates and bushings...that bugger dived in but needed 1/2 hour to let come free the tube. (tjaaaa: Ralf at the end all comes out to public... as with the neighbours bream handle in your front wheel...Who has the bruises doesn't have to worry about the laughter)
