Hi. I am mounting a 88TLE on a 04 Road king I have the HD, TLE book and the bike book. Both mention mods. and program changes to the bank angle switch. The local HD shops don't seem to know anything about it. They want me to bring it in and they will contact factory service about it. The factory trained independent that works on my bike said the mod. is to a bracked for the switch and I have the correct bracket on my bike, just mount the car and ride. Whats correct? Thanks. Dick

We've never done any alterations to the bank angle sensors on the Harleys through the years and have never heard of any problems due to not purchasing/adding Harleys' recommended modifications.

You have to add a Bank angle sensor, and then have a HD dealer Tech change the factory setting from solo to sidecar configuration using the HD scan tool. This sensor and re-configuration keeps the engine from shutting off during high lateral force turns and shuts off fuel and ignition to engine if the rig was to overturn.installing the Bank angle sensor is easy,it installs next to the battery.

The Honda airbags don't help either if you're upside down. lol

Lonnie, Thats what I told one of the dealers. If my rigs upside down I'm going to be worried about more than the engine still running. I have been setting up and riding my rigs for 35 years. The only way I can see one overturmed is if a another vehicle hits me. I was just worried about the engine shutting off as the books states it can come from a turn or hitting a pothole. My shop said thats what the special bracket was for. To stop forces from tripping the angle sensor on a turn or bump. Thanks to all for the input. I think I'll mount it and worry about the sensor when and if it ever shuts off. The reset is simple to do on the road. Thanks again. Ride safe. Dick
