81 562 Velorex Axle Play

Just changed my rigs sidecar tire. As I was removing the wheel from the 81 562 Velorex Sidecar I noticed about a 1/8 inch axle play. I found the play was not actually the axle, but the pivot point for the axle / shock pivot point. I removed the cotter pin and re-tightened the nut of the pivot bolt. This cured the up/down 1/8-inch play.
Question:
1. Does this need to be lubed?
2. Is there a proper toque on this bolt?
3. How do you lube the wheel bearing?

I realize this is a high tech rig,

Thanks,

Jim Slaughter

The swing-arm bolt is supported by two ball bearings. As is the wheel.
Ball bearings work best and longest if well lubricated. The felt dust protectors used on the Velorex aren't the best seals around, but if greased well with multipurpose lube will help keep out water and grit.
You might look into upgrading the suspension on a unit this old. For handling and safety.

No published torque figures available.
Just snug it up good with no play and pin it.

(Another method is to tighten it up till it gets real loose and then back up a half turn). Don't try this at home! This will only work one time. LOL
