My wife and I have developed slight twitches from constantly checking that our headsets are still plugged in as they seem to fall out of their sockets frequently, and they seem to do it at the most inconvienient times- like when your changing gear and it drops onto you Gas tank.
Not sure if I want greater Volume as it means I have no excuse to whats being said to me!!!!!!!!!! It would be handy for the CB, to have greater clarity, so may have to look at other manufacturers headsets- better buy stock in J&M.
i zip tie the cable fitting to the helmet fitting - that solves that problem - and they hardly ever pull out of the bike half
next time i need one im going to try a j&m

There are a few disagreements among touring riders regarding the qualitiy of various headsets. You will find, however, that the J&M sets are probably in the majority.
The group that uses a lot of headsets are the Goldwing riders. I used to be in the GWRRA forum when I had my former 1994 Goldwing and J&M sets are quite popular with those folks also.
I did try to use the headset that came with the Ultra but I discovered that the volume was very low. I got a couple of the J&M's and the volume is much higher and the clarity is noticeably better.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
the speakers volume is why ive been looking at j&m's - i have trouble hearing cell phone stuff when cooking in traffic - when work calls i have to answer - i never originate a call though - i dont want to look at the display to choose a number.. answer is no problem - just push ptt and tell them ill call them back in a hour.
my wife says she cant hear me when over 70 or so..
getting older... dr says no hearing aids for a year or two yet but he says ill have them soon enough - im going to try and put that off as long as possible

Yeah, no rush for hearing aids, or glasses for that matter.
A friend of mine who was 75 at the time refused to get glasses. He stil had no glasses back in 2003 when he rode his 1993 HD Low Rider right into the front of a car up near Markleeville, California. He doesn't need them now.
i have progressive glasses - the floor is blurry when i walk but the stuff 300 yds away is in focus
but i can now read the speedometer and the street signs - i was having some.... uh... trouble over those two very minor issues

Some folks have that Laser surgery and do very well, although I know a couple of people who had it and wound up with glare from street lights.
I can't stand contact lenses so I just stay with standard eyeglasses. I like the fact that I don't get particles in my eyes with glasses when I ride my rig.
I'm glad you can see your speedometer now!
I was amused to read elsewhere on the forum about Sqeeling/skeaking brakes- Mine did that from new and still do- I just thought it was a safty feature- like load pipes! It certainly gets you noticed. Haha.

A year down the road I did another Gas Check and on a run I got 32mpg.
Tyre wear after 5000 miles -this is the rubber/tread remaining-
Front Tire 4mm.
Rear Tire 3mm.
Sidecar Tire 2mm.
I wonder if Harley have built a Sacrifical Anode onto their sidecars as I am on my second one as they changed it when I had the sidecar changed, I was hoping it would stop rust on the rest of the Bike, but a lot of the bolts on the engine are showing signs of rust-photo of the anode shown-this is tongue in cheek comment!

And a photo- not a very good one- showing one of the deteriating bolts -12 months old.
Does anyone know what HD's manufactures warranty period is-I presume its 12 months?
Thanks
Dade Cuty must be a prety corrosive environment. I think the Warranty period is now 24 months, but your dealer would know.
You haven't been riding on the beach have you?
Lonnie
About 40 miles from the Beach here in Dade City and Nope havn't ridden it on the Beach, but it is very humid here in Florida.
Will ring the Dealer in the morning as I cannot find warranty info on the HD website.
Thanks
Paul
