Hello Friends,
What woud be the best way to teach your daughter how to drive?
My daughter is now 17 1/2 years old and its time for her to learn to drive.

Myself I started at the age of 12 on a 30 year old farm tractor. Later got at 18 licenses for car and bike, drove 28.000km on a 125ccm Honda, 20.000km on a CB650 and 40km on a car before I was ordered to learn to drive trucks in the Bundeswehr.
Very understandable arguments they gave me: "Buddy simply jump on that thing and do it...." Later ..."Peter you aren't only a blind Pillhuhn (kind of guinee chicken), but a blind vallium pill."

Well the 11.000km on the new Unimog, old MAN and Magirus(vertical "H" shift - "all" combustible burner) 4*4 trucks helped me quite a bit to finally learn to drive even cars...
-------
Yesterday I gave Kristel her first class on Jolly Roger 2 in our farm:
Just kick it on / using the clutch / driving in 1st gear over odd ground for to get a first feeling.

My plan is first start with the rig in the farm until she can can handle the manual mecanics of a bike reasonably well and most of all breaking in a safe manner (means in a month get to the point to throw her foam obstacles in her way on grass, gravel and concrete... sorry obviouslly other way round: hard breaking on concrete, gravel, grass)
When she handles that take off the sidecar and make the same process on the solo bike. A Jawa 350 is petty light and handy.

When she does handle the bike I'd like to continue with the 1960 Willies (6 cylinder station waggon with 3 gears)....=> My dear what a cute puppet she was when accourding to her she was helping me with the hammer to "reconstruct" the windows..... She was 2-3 years then.

OK in resumee, I think this hard, old fashioned style, way of learning would be a good way to make her a responsible and safe riding driver who should know about the physics and should get the riding skills for life.
At the moment I do not think a modern bike or even computerized car would be a serious alternative.

Here my question=> What do you think about my concept and what are your suggestions?

I am open ears.

Best regards from cold, wet and windy Costa Rica's mountain range.
Sven
