OK, that was built until they brought out the disc brake. They discontinued it in the late 1990s when the disc brake was first fitted. I've seen the kit, although I've never seen one in operation. I understand that it uses a car starter. If so, that will pull close to 100 amps when in operation. You will need a car battery...I think it comes with the battery box. With a modern AGM battery, it probably won't affect the upholstery in the trunk.
I don't know about charging a second battery from the bike....that's a mystery to me.
Let us know how it works. 🙂
Those were a short term seller since they would work for a while then quit. Not too popular. As I recall they used a starter motor on a ring gear and a car battery in the trunk.

Yes, it actually uses a car battery which will charge from the bike..My bike is a carb version , but i have put the 45a charge system on it, so charging shouldnt be a problem...Looks as tho in the photos that they just mount a harley bike starter to it with a ring gear behind the drum brake..I have looked at the new TRI Glides, and this is what they have done on them as well..they mounted a ring gear on the side of the drive pulley..Im sure if used with reasonable loads and moderation , the only thing that could fail would be the starter motor...Having owned over 350 harleys, I have yet to have a starter fail me on a bike, which would get used alot more than this would...I dont believe it comes with a battery, but as you say, a new style AGM should work fine..
i will post more when i recieve it...Hb

The reason that they didn't sell very well was that they were something like $1,350 back in 1995.
Yep...
Ive seen as high as $2k now as they are no longer available...Just a nice option as far as Im concerned, and I have the oppurtune to have a brand new kit...
