Having trouble locating pricing on stand alone ural tubs. Any advise on what constitutes a reasonable price for either a used or new tub.

Ellen, Tubs are becoming hard to come by......if you're lucky you can find a tub (tub only) for a grand or so. If your were able to order a new one, be prepared to mortgage your house. Well maybe not, but I believe new are near 4000$$.....but you might have to wait a long time to get one. I'm always on the lookout for them and will travel a fair distance to get one at the right price.

Let me know where you live and what you are willing to pay to get one and I will keep an eye out for a suitable tub.

Chuck

@54vintage I located what I thought was a ural tub but it is a dnepr, 80's vintage, probably built in Ukraine or Russia and pf military grade. I don't know if they are relatively close to the new urals or would require a lot of tinkering to fit. It is located in Redmond, Wa close to me. Asking price is $2700 and it is more than just the tub.

I'll try to attach a link to the craigslist ad with next communication...find this site is hard to go in and out of without losing the 🧵

I've seen this tub on CL.....Dneper for sure. I'm not in favor of them because of the lack of trunk lid.....one has to reach it behind the seat....as shown in the photos. To be clear, you only want a tub, correct?

I'll confirm with LBS but pretty sure it is just the tub...they have just added the African Twin to the bikes they support and I have assumed they will design all the connections.

@purplerhody Ellen, Chuck designed and built the first LBS Africa Twin connections that Mike at LBS will use to build his rigs with...  It was for a friend of mine that I ride with from time to time.  It is likely the best attempt at mating a hack to an AT currently available for money.

I have one that was built by the old crook at DMC Washington (NOT the guys in TX, who are stand up people doing good work.)  I have done extensive mods to it to make it survive the use I put it through.  If/when I fix it permanently, I will most likely ask Chuck @54vintage to build a version of it for me.

His work is outstanding; he built the LL front end on my AT and I have been very pleased with it for about 40,000 hard miles of desert abuse.

I, and many others here, have visited Mike's old shop.  I haven't gotten up to his new shop, but if money isn't a blocker, you can bet he does nice work!

I hope to have my new rig ready by 2026 late spring/early summer for a trip to Inuvik. I tried to get there in 2022 on my Triumph Tiger but got turned back by snow and flooding. With the intervening years, I think a sidecar will be my best option now. Time is short and there are still so many interesting roads to see.
