Looking for a suitable sidecar for my 99 R bike. Something that has some up to date disconnecting gear, or is upgradeable. $4k to $5k range. Black paint preferred. Please email me at geoff.kooris@gmail.com

Geoff, a few years ago, I studied on mounting a sidecar to my R850R, and preferred these two options:

1. Tripteq from Holland: http://tripteq.com/en/ Designed specifically for oilheads. Good option for a do-it-yourself installation, but I'm not aware of an importer in the USA.

2. Hannigan Sprint - their base model without an top-opening hatch - should be good match of size, weight and style to the Roadster bikes.

There are other just-as-good options depending on personal preference. I never completed the R-project as I stumbled upon our R1100GS/CSM rig while studying the combination.

Keep in mind our R bikes to not have a perimeter frame, so a proper subframe is required to mount a sidecar.

We offer the needed mounting hardware for most sidecars however some sidecars should never be mounted to your bike and others are going to cost a lot to get safe. Feel free to contact me before you buy a used sidecar, I can tell you what to look for and what will be needed to install it on your bike. We also offer steering modification as well as an automotive rear wheel conversion and of course we make many models of sidecars suitable for your bike.

THanks, Lee. Those look very nice, and they even show a car mounted in a bike similar to mine. Wish there was a US importer .
