The Ride For Kids event benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation www.pbtfus.org and provides sorely needed money for medical research Here is a link to the details for the DFW area event that will take place the next morning on Oct 5 at Grapevine Mills Mall. http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/calendar/2008/dallasfortworth08.html

We use sidecars to take local kids who are tumor patients or survivors on the ride with us and it is the highlight of their year and some welcome relief from the doctor visits and chemo treatments that make up their lives.

Why Participate? Brain tumors take the lives of more children in North America than any other disease and the research dollars that come out of these events are the catalyst that will result in saving more kids' lives. And, the kids will love you for it. Meet these kids and you'll keep coming back year after year just like we do.

If you can come and help out with a sidecar seat, please contact Gary at 817-219-0370 or at gtouchstone@yahoo.com Even if you can't share a sidecar seat, come out and ride to help the kids. I'll have my Valk sidecar rig out there and look forward to meeting you. Lyn and Perry B are also planning on bringing their rigs.

If you're from out of town, you're welcome at the ride. We've got folks coming up from Waco and Houston and people coming down from Oklahoma City and Durant. Make it a fun weekend.

And, if you know people who would rather walk to help the kids than ride, this is the first Weekend for a Cure and includes a Fun Run/Walk on Saturday morning in memory of a local 1st grade girl who died last October from her tumor. Here is the info for that http://www.trinitybrighthalloween5k.com/

Thanks for your consideration and help.

If you can't make one of the rides this year and want to help, you can donate at www.FirstGiving.com/HelpingKids

See you there, Tomcat. For sidecars that can take one of the kids, it is best to get there on the early side of registration to get you lined up and signed in.

The ride went off without a hitch! Gorgeous weather, full police and escort riders all along the route, 50 miles of good roads and over 700 bikes, trikes and sidecars turned out to raise $135,000 for PBTF!

As advised I was there early and staged then when assignments came around I had not one but two riders, a delightful pair of 9 year old twins.

The ride happened under the best conditions on Sunday and wouldn't you expect it, it rained off and on all day on Monday, the day after the ride!

The event exceeded all expectations of the organizers with over twice as many bikes and $55,000 more than the target for donations!
