38th Hoosier Beemer Rally

We had a great time! Folks were really nice and there were 6 other rigs, including a 1970 BMW. Hoping to beat the old record of 8 rigs. So close. They had 108 attendees.
Spent 3 days at the rally and another 3 at Grand Lake St. Mary's in Ohio. It's flat and roads are pretty straight for a longgg way.. Did I mention flat and straight? Really interesting to see the gigantic machines harvesting crops. Farms as far as you could see.
We had a chat with these folks. They were in Maine, too! We were even at the same restaurant, Taste of Maine, and never met until this event.
That's Brad Elery, treasurer of Hoosier Beemer and chief cook, the next bike is Bill Russell's, who was manning the registration and other duties.
After we stayed at the campground at Grand Lake St. Mary for a few days of sight seeing in the area, including the Armstrong Air and Space Museum and Airstream Heritage Center. Recommend both if you are in the area. And you can't go home without seeing a 30 foot tall Bigfoot made of wood π
If you have a chance to go next year, do it! We were in the motorhome and stayed at the campground in the park. Very nice set-up.

Thanks for sharing the rally photos. Β Flat??? Yeah, that area of Ohio and Indiana was called the Black Swamp until the German settlers learned how to drain the swamp using locally produced clay tiles buried under the fields and roadside ditches leading down to the streams.
I was born and raised in the middle of the wheat, corn, and soybean fields there. Getting lost in an August corn field, or watching the wheat tassles wave in the wind are childhood memories.Β
Thanks for reawakening memories...
Safe travels you two...
