I have a sidecar rig built on a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Fi Classic (California Sidecar Company Freedom II SE sidecar). I'd like to replace the factory-stock triple trees with ones that will decrease the (considerable) steering effort; anyone know where I can find such an item?

Also, I'd like to add a hydraulic disc brake to the sidecar wheel. This sidecar has a shock-absorber in the suspension, not a torsion bar. Anyone know where I can find the correct such parts for this rig?

I'm planning on having Claude Stanley at Freedom Sidecars do this work for me over the winter (he's too busy with other orders to take it on right now, and I'm still using it while the weather permits), so this is not something I need on an emergency basis. Thanks to anyone who can help.

We of course offer triple tree's as well as a kit to add a brake to this sidecar however our hub has a different bolt pattern then California sidecar used as such you will also need a different wheel.

Jay: Thanks for the reply. I just sent a message to your business via your web site, asking about the triple trees, but didn't know you had already posted this reply on this web site. So you don't need to reply to the other.

So, next question: how much will the triple trees cost, and if it seems I can't add a brake to my sidecar as is, how much is your kit to add the brake, and how much is the different wheel? Again, thanks.

The triple tree's run $1000. The special hub with the brake rotor, wheel bearings, seals, brake caliper and a weld on bracket run $650. The kit also includes the brake hose however we need to know how long to make it which depends on your installation so we would need a measurement for this. We do not supply the wheel. The wheel patterns we can supply are 4 bolt on 4 pattern which may be what you now have or we have a 5 on 4.75 pattern.
