Hi All just rolled out my other rig to get it ready ror the winter season, thought you might like to see it as a change to all those smart & shiny outfits that usually get posted. its a 1978 bmw R80/7 fitted to a Pauls Devon Piskie ( thats not a spelling error } unit forks, 15" wheels & no Chrome. lol.

just had a thought i once asked where the term Hack came from.and now i know it is used in the UK to mean Ride Out originaly on horse back, the phhrase to hack out literaly means to go for a ride

I'm envious - the sidecar looks pretty cool and I always like a nice airhead.

Strange location for the stearing dampener though. As well as the positioning of the brake calipers....For more cooling by the snow?

No I don't think so, in UK you get only Schneematsch if at all. The occasion I came over in winter to London I missed my bike since Dover, while home we had -5ΒΊC and snow until Amsterdam in UK we had 15-18ΒΊC

I learned at least my lesson: "It takes half an hour for to get there and half an hour to get lost." on Henry Junior's bike, who may rest in peace in the North Sea.

Enjoy the coming windface season.
I'd love to see snow again.

Same I had in Norway one morning (jan 1987), -28ΒΊC 3rd kick, renng klennng klenn. A few km later I made a 3/4 forward salto in the 1m deep snow.... I had over forced the spikes too much and hit with the left foot peg the frozen snow and into the snow....
When the overturning stopped, the front wheel was pointing up heaven and I was hanging down from the right leg caught by the upper center mount...

On that trip typical were 5 warm meals a day for to fill up the empty stomack of 500km driving the sleigh.
Enjoy it.
Sven

Hank....

Very nice rig. I love old airheads also. What type of tire is that on the front? Looks a bit flat on the tread.

Hi Tyre is Uniroyal 125 SR 15 car tyre, with ref the snow, seems to be a thing of the past in the uk we just get lots of rain & council salt so winter hack is more about being corrosion proof. its a shame cos outfits & snow were made for each other. Global warming i suppose.

Climate change is making some places colder and some warmer.
Like snow in Las Vegas and Los Angeles and summer snowfall in Denver here.
Snow can be fun to ride in, but without the salt.
Here in the high desert they sand the roads and spray a de-icer that doesn't eat up the concrete or the vehicles like salt does.

Ready for winter. Photos of my first sidecar. A 97 Sputnik Luks. Mods include replacement of all bolts/nuts with grade 8 or steel. Bottom sidecar pan painted with truck bed liner. Lowes' black paint and Duplicolor Avignon blue (close to BMW Icerberg Silver.) New wiring using a trailer harness for quick disconnect. And a BMW roundrel sticker to confuse the masses.
