Well she jumped in with both feet. We left the house at 9:15 a.m. and got home at about 6 p.m. Almost 250 miles, ya I know we stopped a few times. The biggest problem was not the ride but getting in and out of the sidecar. Spyder T1 is not the easiest to get in and out of - especially if you are 5' 12". I love those long legs though - so I'll be looking for another chair that's easier for her to get in and out of. Love the looks of the Spyder and it handles great, but if it is a problem to get in and out of!

Glad y'all had a good day. Unfortunately, many of the smaller sidecars are difficult for adults to enter & exit. May I suggest: Ride more, exit less. 🙂

I have seen a "bumper" sticker on the fender of a sidecar with the following instructions:
Sit down, shut up & ride. 🙂

OK, I'm ducking for cover now.

even the hd sidecar can be small, my wife pushes herself up to sit on the ledge behind the seat and then swings her legs off over the side of the fender.

what she really wants is a small door to swing her feet through

no joy finding that so far

and she wants a convertable top so when its too cold, or too wet she can hide inside and play gameboy till we get home.........

no luck finding that so far either - but i have seen one on a hd car....

I'm looking also timo482, ya know the old saying: "If Momma ain't happy - NOBODY is Happy!" She's a trooper but she has enough health problems to deal with I sure don't want to cause her any more problems. I'm gonna look and see if a ural side car would be easier for her. Hey who knows - I might win a lottery or something, but wait ya have to buy a ticket for that don't ya?
Joking aside we are trying to figure out what to do - our budget is pretty limited. The biggest problem so far is pushing herself up to get out - the opening for the cockpit is just a little too close so she can't get her knee's out easily. The she scrapes her back on the trunk lid also. Thinking about making a padded blanket to slide behind her to keep her from scraping her back. At least until/unless we find another sidecar that she likes better.

budget has become a big issue in the last few years - so i understand that

thank goodness its paid for - but i dont see any path to a new one in what remains of my lifetime

there is a steel harley copy body made that has a small door in it - but its not exactly cheap

as long as she can get in and out and is happy with the ride im going to leave it alone

but if i find a top or a way to add a door to what i have ill do it

the next thing ill do when enough cash is in the kitty is change the trans sprocket to a 30 tooth sprocket - i have to change the drive belt eventually and i plan on doing that then.

id also like to put in reverse but thats going to wait till there is a pile of cash available

this spring all the cash went into a new roof for the house

Wow, that's a lot of miles for the first time out. Congrats to your wife. 🙂

You know you could let her drive once in a while. :O

Good Luck with your quest.

Gpers2 - I could - but the Electraglide is a bit heavy for her to steer - she has operated her own bikes in the past and rode with me until her spinal problems caused her to quit. Although with all that said, we were talking about putting the Spyder on her sportster and getting another hack for the Electraglide - the only thing stopping any of that is $$$$$$$$$.

A Ural tub has a cut away on the right side that makes swinging the feet through easier. It is heavy enough built to work with a harley and has a nice retro look to it.

I have a fiberglass copy of the Harley Liberty body that was produced from 1930's - the early 60's. I have built a few with doors. I could custom build you a body with whatever size door you want. If your exiting upholstery does not fit. I can custom stitch a set for you including tonneau cover.
If interested email me. and I will send pictures of one I built. You will be surprised at the price.
