Just wondering how many people here live in Georgia and what sort of rid do you drive. I live in Macon have a 2002 Harley Ultra and will be installing a 2006 Harley sidecar.

Would be nice if we could all meet somewhere one day.
Thanks
Jeff

Kennesaw Ga. here, just a little north of Atlanta, have an 08 ultra classic with a champion escort hack. Always looking for others to ride with, and it is about time for the annual "dragon's back" trip. If you are headed towards the north georgia mountains let me know, ready to ride almost any time.

There is a very active Georgia Sidecar Club too! Check out their website http://members.cox.net/georgiasidecarclub/

They have a yearly rally that is coming up in June.

Yes the president of the club James Allmond lives about a mile from me and I have know him for about 30 years. He was my riding partner in 2005 when we rode to Alaska and back.

I was in Kennesaw Ga. about 4 or 5 months ago to go to the museum where the locomotive from the great train chase the General is. Last Sunday I rode up to just outside Helen GA. to go see Anna Ruby falls.

I normally take a day ride at least once a month of 300 to 500 miles.
Thanks
Jeff

I was down your way 3 Saturdays ago on the bike for a day ride. First stop was in Darien. Did about 480 miles that day. Thought I seen a quite a few others from Georgia here. Hope they chime in.
Thanks
Jeff

Jeff,
I'm in Columbus. Ride a 2007 Ural Gear Up I've had for 3 years and just finally got the spouse to go on a road trip for breakfast. She's not a biker but supports my habit and the Ural is my 3d bike. Drop me a note if you're ever coming this way.

Dirtdabber....I've got a 2005 1200 XLC....can you post a pic of your Sportster rig please. Been thinking about going that route myself just to be able to rider longer/farther...and a bit faster than the Ural. The Ural is great...it's like the old VW Bugs. Runs and runs...simple to work on. Sometimes its nice though not having to work on a bike.

Here are some pictures. It has been a great rig. I have done a couple of 400 mile days with it but mostly it gets ridden for commuting.

Dirtdabber,

Wow.... awesome rig. I've been thinking for a while about putting a sidecar on the Sporty and selling the Ural to get room in the Garage. With my wife's car in the garage it's a pain swapping bikes out and I'm not getting any younger. What year is your sidecar. I went out and looked on their webpage and the hacks seem larger. Do you leave the hack on the bike all the time or swap out a lot and ride solo?

Thanks again for posting the pics. My son and I are planning on taking the Gear Up into North Ga and Tennessee over the 4th and you just gave me inspiration for new roads to ride. 🙂

The Sportster is a 2000 model. The sidecar is a Liberty Sport. Liberty only made the Sport model for a few years and unfortunately discontinued it. I think the Sportster has a stigma of being a beginner bike, girls bike, and not enough power for a sidecar and it just never took off.

My opinion is it is a great hack. It was custom designed for the Sportster so all the mounts fit perfectly. The lines are really clean and work well with the bike. It is a smaller sidecar than the other Liberty cars that are made for the larger Harleys. It is close in size to the Velorex. The bike is an 883 with the 1200 conversion. Supposedly that is the best setup since the 883 transmission gives more torque. Or so I have read.

I leave it on the bike all the time. I have an Avon sidecar tire on the front now with the flat tread. I have not change the tripple trees but I am considering it. Living here in the GA mountains I get a workout driving it.

Great looking rig there, Dabber. Subject to its limitations re: interstate speeds, our little 2002 883R is a great sidecar rig, especially with the modified trees. We too leave the our sidecar on our Sportster all the time.

What tire is on the pusher in the photos? Re: Triple trees, check out Hawg Halters in Dahlonega -- good product.

And the pic of the Heintooga Round Bottom Road really intrigues me and makes we want to come over and drive it -- or ride it on the recently acquired little KLX250 2-wheeler.

Did you get the KLR rig over in Texas? If so, did you drive it back home?? If so. how about some tales/pics from the road??? 🙂
