Where did the term Hack come from...?

I think the term Hack came from the early association of sidecars with Taxis, i.e., in Asia.

To take it back a step, hack is short for hackney. A hackney is a horse drawn carriage used by taxi drivers in Victorian times. It's why taxis and taxi drivers are still referred to as hacks. The rest, as they say, is history.
