I'm temporarily removing the car from my H-D Road King to upgrade the cam. I need to ride or haul it to the shop. What can I expect riding solo with raked triple trees? EZ Steer says don't do it, it's unstable. A friend has Tri Glide triple trees and when he rode his tug solo he said he didn't notice much difference. Thanks, Kirk

First and foremost, remember to put your foot down when you stop. Or expect great embarrassment.

With modified steering when you go into a corner you need to really pull the bars into the corner. Then once turning on a non modified bike if you keep your throttle steady the bike will continue through the turn even if you were to let go of the bars. With modified steering the moment you release pressure on the bars the bike stands up and goes straight. It can be ridden you just need to keep your head in the game, no day dreaming while riding. Another of much lesser concern is your tires have worn a "flat" spot which if bad you may or may not notice when turning.

That's what I thought, rides like an old chopper. Thanks for the reply and the confirmation. Kirk

NdnKirk, a couple of years ago I rode my XL with 5-degree trees 8 miles back from the shop as a two-wheeler. I don't recommend it, but I survived without incident.
