Well, looks like I created more heated discussion than I intended with the 170/90/15 tire issue. Let me change the subject.
I don't currently have the $$ needed to do so, but I'd like to replace my 54,000 mile '96 1400 Suzi Intruder before too long. Nearly all (over 90%) of my miles are with Luke (severe autism) in the sidecar so here are my priorities.

#1 reliability - stranded 100 from home could be pretty traumatic

#2 tubeless tires - while I love the look of spokes on the Intruder, priority #1 sure pushes me toward tubeless tires. I could plug a hole on them, but couldn't handle a replacement/repair tube.

#3 floor boards would be nice, but this is a distant third.

Anyone out there using a VTX 1300? If so, what's been your experience? Others certainly may voice their opinions too -- or suggest other option.
Thanks,
Sidecar Ron-n-Luke

We have sold a bunch of mounts for the VTX 1300 (not the same as the VTX 1800 as they take different lower rears) and have not had any feed back positive or negitive. We have had positive feed back on the VTX 1800

Hi Jay,
I'd, of course, drool over a 1800, but it's a tad pricey for me -- even though I'd be dropping back 100 cc from the Intruder to go with the 1300.

I have an '03 vtx1300R. I love it. Currently it is matched with a beefed up Velorex, but it has the ability to haul a roomier side. I have over 32,000 on this combo now. Lots of torque, has floor boards, 300 mile days comfortable ride - NO problem.. I'd buy this bike again. 🙂 What model VTX are you considering? I am thinking that it is the VTX1300C - the one without the wire wheels. I would venture to guess that the bob-tail on that one would make tire changing easier. I have to jack my bike up pretty high to get the wheels off.. Good luck with your quest.. gail

Thanks Gail for sharing your experiences. Yes, I'd consider the C or R(?) to get away from spoked wheels.
